MEMORIALS AND FUNERAL SERVICES

Death is the saddest reality of life. Losing a loved one is always traumatic, even when death comes after a long life. Funerals and memorial services are our way of formally parting from those whom we have lost. As such, they are a critical part of beginning the healing process.

Humanistic Judaism is committed to focusing on both the memory of the deceased and the emotional well-being of the survivors. For this reason, people often comment upon the appropriateness and value of funerals and memorials facilitated through the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism.

Ceremonies are fashioned to provide a lasting tribute to loved ones, honoring their memory with dignity and devotion. Metropolitan Detroit funeral homes will work with you and the staff of the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism. We place no restrictions on the survivors’ wishes regarding cremation or location of burial. Funerals and memorials services may be held on any day of the week or time of day (subject only to availablity of the location or rabbi).
